Volunteer to be a Firefighter

About The Volunteer Program

Every community needs firefighters – with 70% of the nation’s fire service being volunteer Fire Departments, they’re the folks willing to help their neighbors in their greatest times of need. But did you know that the majority of firefighters in the U.S. are volunteers? These volunteers serve in a variety of ways, from fighting fires and responding to medical emergencies to assisting during natural disasters and conducting fire prevention education. Volunteering with a fire department is an impactful and rewarding way to give back to the community and make a difference.
As a firefighter, or a support member of the department, you can make a difference where it is needed most. You’ll also learn new skills, meet new people, and become part of the fire service family.
